We Wish You the Best During the Corona Virus Outbreak.

During this time when the Corona Virus is infiltrating America, I want you to know that you are not alone. There are people everywhere offering their support whether it is online or via phone calls. There is snail mail opening up to wonderful ideas of penpal writing, to Zoom media works for online gatherings and even birthday parties. There are celebrities sharing recipes on their Facebook accounts and meditation teachers teaching guided meditations on their websites for free.

We need to make sure during this time of work closures and school closures to stay clean and wash our hands. The recommended mantra is 20 seconds for hand washing, and 15 seconds for Purell or other hand sanitizers. Make sure to wear a mask when you plan to go to a public place, and wear gloves if you plan to touch shared objects outside of your household.

This is a time for turning in to appreciate your family more. It is a time to share stories, to look at old pictures, and to make art projects. It is also a time to show each other what on technology interest you, whether its Instagram photos, to Facebook videos, to Zoom classes. All of these interactions are good for your health and wellbeing. The grocery stores are still open and you can order curbside grocery pick up. Wear your gloves and wipe down the containers of all the items before taking them into your house. Put a safe place by your door for gloves, masks, and coats. We will get through this time together and with the support of each other. It is a humbling time for all of us and I wish you all the best!

Be well,

Jennifer Saferstein M.S., L.Ac., A.P.

Under Pressure, The Pre-Rain Dance

5/3/2018

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen, how are you all doing today? This air pressure in Akron, OH was so strong this morning before the rain and thunder. What are some of your techniques to balance the air pressure in your hearts and mind? Flowers came to mind.
Spend some time today touching a flower petal, just one. Observe the softness, the fuzziness, the moistness, and how much flowers just want to rescue us from everything, to continue to discover the greatest things in life.
Flowers.
Air pressure.
Thunder.
Flowers again.
Rain.
Yes please, that may be what the flowers need.
Rain with pressure.
Pressures not for me.
But flowers need rain you see.
So flowers must help us naturally.
With the pressure before the water of heaven arrives.
To quench our thirst and the flowers too.
May 1 flower petal always help us, with love and the air pressure too.
Gd bless us,
May it be a great healthy day!

Sesame Seeds, Little Kings of Healing.

I grew up eating Tehini my whole life and knew that it was healthy, but later on I learned even more about its healing properties.  When I lived and worked in Acupuncture in Israel right after I graduated with my Master's of Science, I found it hard to find protein bars. The only energy bars that I could find were Halva square bars. They were filled with magnesium, potassium, some protein, zinc, and more.  Halva is a mixture of honey and sesame seeds made into a paste.

In Chinese Medicine white sesame seeds are especially helpful for the lungs, and lung strength.  The lungs, are not just the direct organ, but many tissues of the body that help to protect the body's defenses, including the skin. Using sesame seeds in cooking and dining, similar to having them in a container like salt, is great and commonly seen in Japan called Gomasio, this wonderful company Eden Foods sells it in America.

https://www.edenfoods.com/store/gomasio-sesame-salt-organic-glass-jar.html

Black sesame seeds in Chinese Medicine help to strengthen the kidneys, not just the organs themselves, but the cortisol levels, the entire kidney channels of Acupuncture meridians, and the Will Power of the person, to be strong, overcome, and have the will power to go on. That intelligence trickles down to the body's intelligence too, to help it heal and overcome a chronic health condition.

Thank you and may you enjoy your journeys with sesame seeds!

Be well.

Throne on Your Phone

11/12/2017

I have treated many patients now with a lot of sitting disorders (sciatica, low back pain, and gynecology and urology conditions).  I myself have decided to search for the best possible solutions to guard our health care here as a youth of America. One thing, is to honor yourself as a King or Queen, a Princess or Prince of existence. You are here on Earth right now, and the best thing is to find in life guard your health.

Why not make it fun, and use your everyday objects to visualize shields for your health. In Tai Chi and Qi Gong, we visualize through movements building immune system and emotional shields for our physical bodies. With our phone, we can use a picture to honor ourselves and feel super cool at the same time, by putting a throne on your phone for good health and well being.

Be there, find a chair, honor yourself there, and look at it everywhere. Show your friends, this is my throne. Beautiful things happen when you decide you are a King, Queen, Princess, or Prince.  No matter what age you are, putting a "Throne on Your Phone," is a great idea.

Cheers to greater health and having fun while getting there!
